MATTRIX Privacy Policy
**Effective date:** August 29, 2026
**Website:** https://mattrixbjj.com
**Privacy contact:** support@mattrixbjj.com
MATTRIX ("MATTRIX," "we," "us," or "our") provides a jiu-jitsu training intelligence, progress-tracking, and athlete community service through our apps, website, and related services (the "Services"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information.
This is a universal policy. We aim to provide the core rights described below to all users. Depending on where you live, mandatory local law may provide additional rights or impose additional obligations that cannot be limited by this Policy.
## 1. Information we collect
### Account and profile information
We may collect your name, username, email address, authentication identifiers, country or general locale you choose to provide, profile photo, academy, professor/instructor, belt, stripe count, training start date, biography, and profile preferences.
### Athlete, training, and performance information
When you use MATTRIX, you may record information such as training dates and duration, class type, Gi/No-Gi, techniques, drills, positional training, rolling/sparring, training partners, attempts and outcomes, goals, notes, belt and graduation history, competition/age category, weight or weight division, and progress statistics.
We treat private training records, exact weight, birth information, and similar athlete information with heightened care. Visibility settings determine what is shown to other users.
### Photos and other user content
If you choose to use media or social features, we may process photos, captions, profile content, graduation posts, training notes, and other content you create or upload. Camera or photo-library access is requested only when you choose a feature that needs it.
### Partner and social information
We process Partner requests, accepted reciprocal Partner relationships, mutual-connection signals, Partner-only activity, graduation milestones, relationship milestones, and interactions necessary to provide community features.
### Device, usage, and diagnostic information
Production versions of MATTRIX may process device and operating-system information, app version, IP address, authentication and security events, push-notification tokens, crash data, diagnostics, and limited feature-usage information needed to operate, secure, and improve the Services.
MATTRIX does not intend to collect precise GPS location unless a future feature clearly requires it and you grant the relevant permission.
## 2. Why we use information
We use information to:
- create, authenticate, maintain, and secure accounts;
- provide athlete profiles, training logs, statistics, history, insights, and progress features;
- maintain belt, stripe, and graduation history;
- operate reciprocal Partner relationships, discovery, and authorized Partner-only feeds;
- process photos, posts, captions, and other features you choose to use;
- synchronize data and deliver requested service notifications;
- provide support and respond to privacy requests;
- detect fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, security incidents, and technical failures;
- troubleshoot, analyze, maintain, and improve the Services; and
- comply with legal obligations and protect users, MATTRIX, and others.
Where applicable law requires a legal basis for processing, our bases may include performing our agreement with you, your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting the Services, and compliance with legal obligations. Where consent is required, we will request it before the relevant processing.
## 3. What other people can see
MATTRIX is built around controlled visibility.
Some profile information may be discoverable so athletes can identify each other and request a Partner relationship. Information identified as private鈥攕uch as exact weight, birth information, private training data, or private notes鈥攕hould not be publicly displayed.
Partner-only content is intended to be available only to the account owner and users with an accepted reciprocal Partner relationship, subject to the applicable product settings.
Anything you intentionally share with another person can potentially be copied or captured by that person. Please share thoughtfully.
## 4. How we disclose information
We do **not sell personal information** and do not use private training, weight, fitness, graduation, or Partner information for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising.
We may disclose information:
- **to other MATTRIX users**, according to the visibility and Partner settings of the feature;
- **to service providers** that help with hosting, databases, authentication, file/media storage, notifications, email, analytics, crash reporting, security, or support, under appropriate contractual and security obligations;
- **for legal and safety reasons** when reasonably necessary to comply with valid law or process, enforce our rules, investigate abuse or fraud, or protect rights and safety; and
- **in a business transaction**, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, subject to applicable safeguards.
Service providers may process data only for authorized purposes and must provide protection consistent with our obligations.
## 5. Analytics and advertising
MATTRIX may use limited product analytics and diagnostics to understand reliability and feature performance. We aim to avoid sending private free-text training notes, exact weight, birth information, email content, or raw photo metadata to analytics systems.
MATTRIX currently does not intend to operate an advertising business or use personal information for targeted advertising. If that changes materially, we will update this Policy and obtain additional permission where required before the new practice begins.
## 6. International processing
MATTRIX is designed for an international community. Our infrastructure and service providers may process information in countries other than where you live. When applicable law requires safeguards for international transfers, we will use appropriate contractual, organizational, or technical measures.
## 7. Retention
We retain information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, to provide account history and functionality, maintain security, resolve disputes, and comply with legal obligations.
When you validly delete your account, we intend to delete or de-identify account information and user content under our control, except information we must retain for legal, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, or other permitted purposes. Primary production data should ordinarily be deleted or de-identified within approximately 30 days after a completed deletion request, while residual encrypted backups may remain until normal backup rotation, ordinarily no longer than approximately 90 days.
Information created and controlled by another user鈥攆or example, another athlete's own training record that referred to you鈥攎ay remain as part of that user's record, subject to applicable privacy rights and appropriate de-identification where required.
## 8. Account and data deletion
You can learn how to delete your account and associated data at:
**https://mattrixbjj.com/delete-account**
The production app must also provide a readily discoverable in-app method to initiate account deletion. We may verify your identity before completing a deletion or privacy request.
## 9. Your privacy rights
Subject to applicable law and reasonable identity verification, MATTRIX aims to let all users:
- know whether we process their personal information;
- access personal information associated with their account;
- correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- request deletion or de-identification where applicable;
- request an export or portable copy where technically available;
- withdraw consent where processing relies on consent;
- object to or request restriction of certain processing where applicable;
- learn the categories and purposes of processing and relevant disclosures; and
- request human review or information about significant automated decisions, if MATTRIX ever introduces processing with legal or similarly significant effects.
MATTRIX's training insights and progress analytics are intended as athlete tools and are not designed to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.
Submit a request at **https://mattrixbjj.com/privacy-request** or email **support@mattrixbjj.com**. Exercising a privacy right will not result in unlawful discrimination or retaliation.
If mandatory local law gives you additional rights, those rights remain available to you even if not listed here.
## 10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, organizational, and technical measures designed to protect information. Production safeguards are intended to include encrypted network transport, appropriate encryption at rest, access controls, secure authentication, protected cloud infrastructure, logging, backup and recovery practices, and security maintenance.
No system can guarantee absolute security. Please protect your credentials and contact **support@mattrixbjj.com** if you believe your account or MATTRIX data may be at risk.
## 11. Children and minors
During the initial beta and testing period, MATTRIX is intended for users who are **18 years of age or older**. We do not knowingly permit children to create beta accounts.
If we learn that a minor created an account contrary to this requirement, we may suspend the account and delete associated information. Before MATTRIX intentionally supports junior athletes, we will implement age-appropriate privacy, safety, consent, and account controls required for that audience.
A parent or guardian who believes a minor's information has been provided to MATTRIX can contact **support@mattrixbjj.com**.
## 12. User-generated content and other people's privacy
You are responsible for content you upload. Do not upload another person's sensitive information, private training information, or identifiable photo without appropriate permission.
MATTRIX may remove content or restrict accounts when reasonably necessary to enforce our Terms of Use, Community Guidelines, safety standards, or legal obligations.
Community Guidelines: **https://mattrixbjj.com/community-guidelines**
## 13. Permissions
Features may ask for device permissions such as camera, photo library, or notifications. Permission requests should be connected to a user-initiated feature. You can manage operating-system permissions in your device settings, although disabling a permission may prevent the associated feature from working.
## 14. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy as MATTRIX evolves. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide appropriate notice through the app, website, email, or another reasonable method as required. The effective date above identifies the current version.
